Intro to Suspension - 4 - 3hr classes
This four part course is designed to teach a well rounded set of harnesses, safety, uplines and general knowledge to begin your suspension journey. Classes can be taken stand alone, but we recommend taking them all as a complete course. They are taught weeks apart so you can practice in between.

This series is designed to get you safely prepared to begin suspending as efficiently as possible. To ensure this, we emphasize learning and practicing key techniques before attempting suspension.

Purchase Tickets Here - Tickets are discounted when purchased for the entire course, but can also be bought à la carte. Tickets MUST be purchased in advance.

Day 1 - May 31st - Hug, Communication, Tension, Uplines, Safety
The first class covers essential suspension knowledge and the foundational skills that require the most practice to master. Topics include harness tensioning, suspension terminology, general safety (with more details to follow), aftercare considerations, and all stages of suspension communication. Hands-on training will focus on the hug chest harness (arms front and bound) and tying uplines. Both tops and bottoms will learn role-specific techniques.

Day 2 - June 21st - Bottoming, Safety, Getting in the Air, Butterfly and Futos
This class focuses on a hip harness (bones and rope), nerve safety, rope types and suspension hardware, suspending with cuffs, and reviewing your progress from the first class.

Day 3 - July 12th - Loading, Hangers, Pain, Labbing, Active Bottoming, trouble shoothing
This class covers the final skills needed to get you in the air—including attempting a suspension if you're ready. We’ll explore topics like differentiating good vs. bad pain, line-loading principles, hanger tying and placement, active bottoming techniques, how to practice a suspension safely, upline management, and troubleshooting issues.

Hands-on exercises include tying your previously learned harnesses, attaching hangers, and practicing partial to full suspensions (with active bottoming). Instructors will assess your readiness to determine the appropriate level. If time permits, we may introduce the dragon leg ladder tie.
Day 4 - Aug 2nd - Bottoming, Safety, Getting in the Air, Butterfly and Futos
This class focuses on full suspensions and introduces the arms-free butterfly chest harness. You’ll review previously learned harnesses, practice using them for full suspensions, and learn the pattern for a new chest harness. Instructors will assess your readiness to determine the appropriate level. If time permits, we may cover the dragon leg ladder tie.

Times - 2pm - 5pm
Class size - 20 people
Price - $70 per couple per class or $225 per couple for entire course (couple tickets only)
Prerequisites
-
Willingness to mess up, laugh about it, breath, give you and your partner a big "thank you for showing up", then trying again.
-
Knots and Frictions - Tie a single column tie, munter, half hitch, and good to have either an X friction or a U friction with a half-hitch lock off.
- Tying skills - you should be able to extend your rope, create a reverse tension, hold tension while you tie, manage the rope
- Communication - both participants should have rope tying communication and pre-negotiation skills. They should have already discussed the types of touch, tying level, and physical or emotional areas that their partner needs to be aware of.
- This is a "high risk profile" activity, so most importantly we all must leave our egos at the door.

What to Bring
-
You should bring at minimum 6 x 30ft and 2 x 15ft pieces of Shibari rope (ex. hemp, jute, nylon, posh).
-
You will need at a minimum 4 climbing rated carabiners or a suspension ring / climbing plate with the needed hardware to secure that to the provided upline straps.
-
Emergency sheers, aftercare stuff, patience, mat if you want it, yoga block or other sitting cushion, slippers to go to the bathroom with, closed top water bottle
-
This series requires a tying partner. The high risk nature of this material make it outside our studio's risk profile to have pickup play happen at the class. If you are looking for a partner, we suggest trying to find someone either on our vetted member's Discord or at one of our rope jams or rope labs.

Covid Policy
We are requiring same day rapid test results, masking is optional. If you feel sick, don't risk it. Covid rules may change if cases increase.

- The class is a casual event, so please wear what you feel comfortable in. For models tight fitting clothes or just not much clothing is the easiest to tie in. For riggers, make sure your clothing does not restrict your mobility in any way.
- We suggest you to be barefoot or wear shoes on the dance floor to prevent slipping (not just socks).

Tickets

- NEVER let money be the reason you don’t come. We are still working out how we want to do a scholarship ticket program, but if you have a deep commitment to learn and share rope but not the financial means to attend this class, please email us so we can see how we can help.
