Delayed due to sickness until August
Overview
Floor rope is a fantastic way of using rope that doesn’t require a hard point: all you need is a spot on the floor and some rope! This type of rope can sometimes be overlooked in favor of suspensions, often because it doesn’t look as impressive or skillful in photos. But floor rope can be just as creative, challenging, and intimate as any suspension – sometimes, even more so. In this 3 hour class, we will go over how to use principles such as tension, body manipulation, and setting intentions to create fun and satisfying rope scenes. Along with discussion and demos, attendees will get a chance to play with these concepts during in-class exercises.

Instructor / Co-Presenter Bio
Ailuran (she/her) is a top leaning, femme rope switch who became fascinated by both the technical and emotional aspects of rope after first being tied in 2016. To her, one of the best things about rope is its variability: she loves messy, sadistic floor rope as much as technical, experimental suspension, and most things in between. A host and educator for multiple local events, she is passionate about sharing concepts and ways of thinking about rope rather than particular patterns or sequences.
Theo (he/him) has been exploring rope for a decade, and has spent the past few years hosting local rope events and teaching rough body play classes. As a rope top, Theo focuses on the process of tying and how to elicit emotion with body and rope. He likes to think of tying as a conversation between partners. These days, he is most interested in sharing his approach to dynamic floor play with the rope community.
